Aladdinsane – The Sound & Vision of Bowie – is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest David Bowie tribute acts. For over 12 years, the band has performed in theatres, festivals and live music venues across the UK, delivering an electrifying celebration of Bowie’s legendary career.
Fronted by Paul Henderson as David Bowie, audiences are continually amazed by the uncanny resemblance in his voice, movements and stage mannerisms, capturing the spirit and energy of Bowie with remarkable authenticity.
Originally from Sunderland and raised in Peterborough, Paul discovered Bowie at an early age and quickly became a lifelong fan, immersing himself in Bowie’s music, performances and ever-evolving style. After performing in local bands throughout the late 1980s and focusing on original music during the 1990s, Paul first gained national recognition in 1993 when he appeared on Stars In Their Eyes, performing Space Oddity as Ziggy Stardust in the show’s very first series hosted by Matthew Kelly.
Following years of performing his own material, a friend suggested he create a Bowie tribute show — an idea that would eventually become Aladdinsane. Named after Bowie’s iconic 1973 album Aladdin Sane, which was also the first Bowie album Paul owned as a child, the band was formed out of genuine admiration and passion for Bowie’s music and legacy.
Today, Aladdinsane features an exceptional live band including Steve Beeston on keyboards, Carl Stones on guitar, Franco Caprio on bass and Rick Cook on drums, together recreating the unmistakable sound of Bowie across every era.
The band has performed at prestigious theatres and events both in the UK and internationally, including appearances in Bahrain, Qatar and Berlin — where Paul performed acoustically at the legendary Hansa Studios, the very place Bowie recorded Heroes.
With multiple costume changes inspired by Bowie’s tours and personas from 1976 through to 2003, every performance is a visual and musical journey through his career. Songs are performed in a dynamic, non-chronological setlist, keeping audiences constantly engaged and wondering what iconic hit will come next.
