Milan, 2019-2020 season, led by singer Brian K, a sanguine baritone present on the city’s rock scenes for at least 30 years, Kicking Pricks were born with the aim of paying tribute to Nick Cave.
There are six members of the band and their performance is the only tribute to the great Australian bard in Europe (in the Mediterranean area). Their love for the artist focuses on a part of his enormous “classical” production, the one up to to the early 2000s.
Thus we start from the toxic and distorted origins of the Birthday Party (1978-82) to arrive at the feverish and agitated style of the first Bad Seeds (1984-88) and then continue on the harmonic and melodic notes of their subsequent research (1990 – early 2000s).
A multifaceted repertoire emerges, between sublime melodies and infernal dissonances. A reasoned compendium, a unique opportunity to engage with the masterpieces of one of the most important and innovative personalities of contemporary authorial music.
