What do we do, what do we sound like and where do we play?
So, we promote ourselves as a 50’s Rock and Roll trio but, not as you might imagine. There are no quiffs or DA haircuts, no drape jackets or rockabilly clothing, not even much in the way of sideburns, no obscure 50’s songs. Just a professional, smart band playing a list of our favourite song’s, most from the 50’s, mainly the hits, but there is other stuff in there as well. Some of our favourite country songs, a little blues, maybe even a few from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.?All with that great 50’s sound. Basically whatever we choose to do. From Elvis’s Devil in Disguise, to The Searchers Needles and Pins back to Suspicious Minds. All played with enthusiasm with our own little spin on things.
Our sound.
Just three instruments, one guitar, double and electric bass and drums.?So a basic sound, but basic is hard to pull off properly.? The bass and drums are thumpy and tight allowing the guitar to chug along in the background on the vocal parts then step forward for the lead break. A carefully balanced mix keeps the sound nice and full. We don’t do much of Buddy Holly’s music but the sound is similar. Naturally we embellish a bit, a few more drum fills etc. Leadbreaks where there might not be one on the original. Very rarely do we do a song like the record but we aren’t a tribute to anyone. We are doing it our way. Over the past few years we have had enough unrelated comments saying the sound was the essence of the era which is what we are mainly trying to achieve.? If we play a Johnny Cash song it may not be note for note but if you shut your eyes we hope your thinking of Sun Studios. So that’s us, I’m ‘dad’ on guitar/vocals, been playing most of my life in the UK, Sweden,? USA and a lot in Spain, worked with a lot of ‘named’ acts and played with a lot of bands. On the bass is Anthony and on the drums is Jay. Both are my sons who have grown up listening, watching and taking it all in and getting ready. Now, as a unit we play a lot of holiday centers, a few regular clubs, pubs and are lucky enough to be flown out to Benidorm to play in what is regarded as one of the best clubs in town.
