Xpansions was formed in 1990 by Richie Malone. Their track Move Your Body was first released on Optimism Records and became one of the early dance crossover hits, reaching No.7 on the UK Singles Chart in 1991. The track was later re-released by Arista Records in 1995, achieving further chart success and peaking at No.12. During this period, the group appeared twice on Top of the Pops along with several other popular television shows.
Now widely regarded as a house music classic, “Move Your Body” has remained a staple on compilation albums, radio shows, and streaming playlists, continuing to receive support from DJs around the world.
With renewed interest in music from that era, the group later reformed following a new deal with Food Music. The track also reached a new audience when it was featured in a 2019 advertising campaign for the Suzuki Swift, generating millions of weekly views and introducing the record to a new generation of fans.
After the release of new remixes on Food Music, the project gained further momentum and was picked up by Positiva Records following strong support from BBC Radio 1 and DJs worldwide, with additional releases later appearing on New State Music.
