Matthew Nelson, better known as DJ Slipmatt, is a British electronic music producer and DJ.
He was one half of breakbeat hardcore group SL2, who had a 1992 UK hit with “On a Ragga Tip”
After being played at raves throughout the pivotal summer of 1991, DJ’s Take Control / Way In My Brain climbed to number 11 in the UK charts in October, launching a career-defining moment for SL2, the duo of Slipmatt and Lime. Their follow-up release, On a Ragga Tip, went on to become one of the most iconic tracks in dance music history.
Reaching number one on the Network Chart and number two on the UK Top 40 in April 1992, the track brought the duo widespread media attention, including appearances on Top of the Pops and Dance Energy, marking major milestones in their rise to fame.
